Digital Blasphemy | 3D Wallpaper

Lost my Mom on Friday and I’m heartbroken. She was a single mom and as far back as I can remember she nurtured my creativity at every step. She bought me a manual typewriter and kept me supplied with paper and ribbons when I dreamed of being an author as a teenager.

Mom went into debt to send me to the best school for creative writing (the University of Iowa) and when I graduated in 1995 she bought me a very nice PC to continue my writing career. I instead discovered digital art and computer science and that is why you are reading this post right now.

In 2004 Jessie and I decided to move from San Diego back to my home town with our baby Ian so he could have a better relationship with my parents. Our kids had the best grandma you could ask for and she never missed a birthday, a concert, soccer game, basketball game or tennis match.

Mom was a nurse for nearly 60 years and only retired at 77 when she was diagnosed with an aggressive form of Parkinson’s Disease. She was a much better suited to be a caregiver than a patient and the last few years have been very hard for her (and difficult for me as her power of attorney). Small bits of her have been steadily ebbing away in recent years and I’ve been grieving the whole time.

I am glad that she is finally at peace but the reality that I will never get to talk her again is a gut punch. Mom was just such a huge part of a life.

She’s always been my biggest fan and I’ll miss her forever 💔

Rest in peace Mama.

Summer Bayou

Happy Sunday everyone!

I’d always intended to create a summer version of “Autumn Bayou” but somehow I lost track of the project and moved onto other things.   After spending a few weeks learning Cinema4D I thought it would be fun to revisit the scene and add something green to my gallery.    Hopefully this scene has a character all its own rather than just being a greener version of the Autumn scene.

Flow State (Midnight)

Ready to move on to new horizons but first someone suggested making a less colorful version of “Flow State” and I do think folks who enjoy darker wallpapers should have an option with this one.  I hope you enjoy it!

Flow State

Happy Monday!

Kept tinkering with my particle simulation over the weekend and moving the camera around to capture different angles. I figured out how to get the particles themselves to spin so they aren’t all oriented the same (as in the first render I posted). A lot of you enjoyed the first version but I’ve decided to move that one to the Pickle Jar and feature this update, which is very different but feels a lot more dynamic to me.

Let me know what you think!

Flow State I

Sorry it’s taking me a bit longer to post new work these past few weeks. Learning some new stuff and that always takes longer than sticking with software like VUE that I know like the back of my hand.

Following on the Cinema 4D particle work I did with “Supernova” I took things in a different direction to create something more abstract.    The goal here was pretty simple, create something colorful and fun for your desktop with both large structure to draw the eye from a distance but also small details here and there to invite closer inspection.    I intend to play with this theme for a little while so be on the lookout for more versions in the Pickle Jar 🙂

Hope you enjoy it!
